My computer no longer has a CD ROM and I noticed that this product comes with "CD Software." Will this present a problem when I plug in the wireless remote?

Nope, as long as you have windows 7, you just plug it in.

One tip is to use a USB extender other wise the keyboard may lag.  YMMV.

is the keyboard wireless too? or just mouse is wireless?

Both are wireless.  You will receive a small USB stick that you will plug into your computer and that will allow the keyboard and mouse to work using wireless.

Is this compatible with windows 8.0?

Yes, this keyboard does work with Windows 8, and also with my update to Windows 8.1

Keyboards are fairly basic item for the drivers to be updated.
You should have no problems.

That being said, I do not use any of the shortcut buttons.
The built-in buttons generally require manufacturer specific drivers (software that helps hardware talk to the Windows system) in order that specific buttons function.

is this a back lit keyboard?

Using the keyboard to answer this question and the answer is no, it is not a backlit keyboard.

This is my keyboard of choice, currently own three of them. I use this keyboard in all types of lighting environments, from low light to very bright light without straining to know which key is  which.  Often use it with the only light being that which is thrown off by the monitor.

The keys are large, black with white lettering which adds to their visibility in all light conditions.

As I said this is my keyboard of choice, partly due to its near indestructible nature and its keyboard layout and usability.

It's a mid size. I didn't like this wireless keyboard, sent it back because it is extremely slow, ,and got the wired version -- MUCH faster!

I have a number of these at this office and have used them on XP and Windows 7 (I haven't tried them on Windows 8 yet).  Nowadays, of course, I'm only using them on Windows 7.  Works fine.

Is this compatible with a Dell PC?

Because it uses a USB port it should work with any PC that supports a USB.  It's not hardwired to the mother board interface.  As long as you have a free USB slot and are running some reasonable level Windows OS it should work just fine.

The keyboard will work with Ubuntu but the Logitech software to set up hot keys and such on the keyboard will not
