4+ years later and it's still going strong 4/8/2013 3:38:16 AM

Pros: This mouse is hands down the best mouse I have ever owned. In my ownership of this mouse, I've had 5 of them. I broke the USB on one, lost the USB on another, which leaves 3, and of the three only one died, and that was after 3 yrs of ownership. My other 2 MX Revolutions are going over 4 years strong.

Pro: The charger base is tiny. Takes up very small desk real estate, and owning multiple MX Revolutions means you can always have one docked.

Pro: The side scroll wheel is ingenious. It is just in thumb's reach. I have macro'd the side spin wheel for volume. By moving my thumb less than a quarter inch I can raise or lower my PC's volume. And, by clicking the wheel I mute everything.

Pro: 2x buttons right by your thumb. These buttons can be macro'd to almost any function. Launching programs, shortcuts, keystrokes, anything. I have actually macro'd these buttons to keystroke 'K' and the ENTER button. I download files from an online server to work on and I can right mouse click and then simultaneously hit both buttons; K is the 'Save As..' function for RMB on the web, and Enter just saves it. I literally fly through downloading things.

Pro: Main spin wheel can actually be switched to free spin or mechanical through the Logitech SetPoint software. You can flick the wheel and instantly FLY through a document or web page, or set it to mechanical which means you manually scroll the wheel. Think of Wheel Of Fortune; when someone spins the wheel there is a little 'ticker' that slows the spin. The mouse has mechanical function so that each small push of the wheel is a 'click' so you can incrementally scroll. And, since you can set scroll speed, you can adjust the 'clicks' of the spin massively.

Pro: The main scroll wheel actually can be clicked right, left, and down. So, the wheel isn't just a wheel, it serves as three separate buttons. All three functions can be individually programmed for advanced scrolling (left and right, enhanced zoom, etc).

Pro: Search button. This button is below the main scroll wheel. This button can be programmed for anything. I keep it for search. Highlight a word, in a document, your browser, etc, click it, and it will search your default search engine for that. Or program it to do whatever the hell you want.

Pro: Wireless.

Pro: Despite what you may read, I've never had an issue with battery life. I use this mouse upwards of 7-10 hours a day; the mouse lasts 6-10 days on average before going low.

Pro: Software allows crazy customization, from battery alerts to macro functions.

Pro: If the mouse gets dirty you can actually tare off the 'feet' (the stickers of the mouse so it glides smoothly), unscrew the screws, take it apart and clean the entire mechanics top to bottom. Years of use slowed things down, took it apart cleaned it, put it back together, works perfectly. However, I did have to purchase new 'feet' online ($10 USD)

Pro: The ergonomic grip is phenomenal. Nothing like it.

Pro: mouse i

Cons: Con: The mouse IS wireless. This means if you lose the USB connector then your mouse is finished. This happened to my 2nd (of 5) MX Revolutions. There is no reprogram capability for other USB connectors and 0 Bluetooth support.

Con: It's a laser. I am a gamer, not a hardcore gamer, but a gamer- Hardcore gamers swear up and down by chorded mice, wireless provides lag. This lag may be a 50th of a second, but it's STILL lag. I don't care, I never 'see' any lag.

Con: It's a laser. I own 2 cats. Their hair is everywhere. Their hair gets in the crevice of the laser. Every few days my tracking goes haywire; I flip it over, blow into it or grab a tweezers and pluck out the hair that's blocking the laser.

Con: The mouse is surprisingly hollow for its innards. As I wrote in the PRO section--- I have taken this mouse apart completely (not the circuit board or inner mechanisms). The top of the mouse is built for the curve of the palm of your hand, in essence it's a giant shell. The massive empty space within the MX Revolution is a breeding ground for dust bunnies. Again, it was more than TWO years of use before I noticed decrease in function, but when I did and disassembled there was a large dust bunny within the mechanism of the wheel. However, it was easily plucked out and put back together.

Con: Underneath the mouse there are two tiny green metallic connectors (connectors is a bad word, I just don't know what to call it) that are flat and smooth. These two green metallic strips are what accept the charge from the docking bay. Over time and lots of use the green covering, which I suspect is a conductor erodes away (from dragging the mouse around a pad or desk). Over time this makes it increasingly difficult to charge. I have spent upwards of 3-4 minutes making sure the mouse was sitting JUST right so I could see the LED lights begin to charge.

Overall Review: (ran out of room in PRO section!!!)

PRO: The mouse has small LED lights under a thin protective layer of clear plastic that indicates battery life! The LED lights are two small squares over a small LED light shaped like a battery. The battery shaped LED light is fractioned in half. Full battery = 2 LED lights and a fully lit battery light. Low battery = Just the LED battery lit. Critical battery life = The last half of the battery shaped LED light, and that light turns RED. Also, when the mouse hits low battery your computer will tell you through a small non-interrupting notification that vanishes after a short amount of time. You can also adjust the software to tell you when it's low (do you want low to be 20%? 10%?) You can also adjust the software to tell you how much % of your battery is left, or how long you have left in your battery based on current use. Lastly, when the mouse is not being used, the LED lights fade out to save battery!

Again, of the three MX Revolutions I owned (not counting the two I broke/lost) I still have two going strong after 4+ years. FOUR YEARS.

This is the best wireless mouse ever. E V E R

4 years later 6/24/2012 6:23:35 AM

Pros: I find this mouse very comfortable, and great for playing mmos. I program the buttons for generally unpressed keys, and if a game doesn't detect my mousebutton 4 (autorun) or it is very touchy about working, I just reprogram it to something else and have that set as autorun. Throughout the years it has fallen more than it's fair share of times, yet still works properly.

Cons: Basic issues such as cat hair or dust will cause it to not tell how I'm moving it properly once in a while, but I just blow in it or use a q-tip (works amazingly well for future reference) to fix it. The mousewheel left and right tend to not want to work in programs (shift k and l I believe as reprogrammed). If I remember correctly usually one will work but not the other (right I believe works). Finally it has recently gotten kind of touchy, though I have noticed that on other computers as well so it may be me, but I tend to get some random double clicks when I want to single click, or click+hold releases too early. Slightly annoying but nothing severe, games are pretty much unaffected, whereas file organizing has gotten to be a bit bothersome at times. But 4 years of use, and it just starting to show some problems, I can't really complain. (and tons of falls... d#$n cat)

Overall Review: I have become addicted to the freespinning wheel, which seems to be a logiitech only feature, so I will pretty much be stuck only buying logitech mice from now on.

Worth the money 1/9/2010 2:23:11 AM

Pros: Good resolution for an average user. The wheel is something that after using i can't imagine life without. I've used this mouse for 16 hours strait and have never had a sore hard or been uncomfortable. It has been a very durable mouse i use it with my laptop and haven't broken one. Battery lasts long enough (about a week) and charges fast.

Cons: It gets dirty and slows the free spin of the wheel down. Doesn't have a middle mouse button, after a while i stopped missing the button though. Could make me breakfast in the morning.

Overall Review: Let the battery drain all the way before recharging, as with every battery throwing them in the charger every night is foolish and will ruin the battery. Use your limited charges wisely and drain the battery. If you notice the mouse tracking poorly after you have owned it for a long period use a q-tip to clean the laser opening. I've never installed the software that comes with it so i don't know how good or bad it is, its not incredibly necessary unless u want to install 3rd party software to switch the search button to a middle mouse button.

Superior Mouse 11/24/2009 11:33:44 AM

Pros: Best mouse i have ever owned. The range on his mouse is unbelievable. I set a laptop clear on 1 side of my apartment to test the range and put the mouse on the other side. probably 50 ft and mouse still moves cursor. Logitech software allows a lot programming and functionality. I have fully charge the battery once and has gone almost 3 weeks without a charge. Logitech has nothing but awesome products.

Love it 11/6/2009 7:58:02 PM

Pros: It is everything I imagined. As a gamer from classics such as diablo II to new games like mass effect it is outstanding. It is extremely smooth and always accurate, was worried it would not be as good as a wired mouse for fps games. The charge lasts me all day long. Whats really cool is you can push down the scroll and it will switch from bumpy to really smooth. It has all the extra buttons a pro gamer would want. Its just an amazing mouse.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I have wanted this mouse since the day it came out and finally gave it a try. I wish I bought it the first time I seen it.

If you are a gamer, I suggest this mouse.
