MX500 Mouse USB to PS/2 adapter User Manual Driver Disk
Pros: Great mouse. I've owned it for 2 years myself and am dreading the day i have to replace it. The shape and size took some getting use to, but after about a week i was hooked. The forward/back thumb buttons are the piece de resistance on this, every time i use someone else's mouse i get frustrated at the lack of them.
Cons: None, an engineering masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.
Pros: Lots of progammable buttons, comfortable. Instant response due to being corded. Great for surfing and gaming.
Cons: Corded, but that's what it is. Cord should be long enough for most, though for my particular setup (box on the lower left, big desk, right hand mouse) the cord is a bit short for my liking.
Overall Review: A cordless version of this or the 518 would be sweet. I also have the G7 and it lacks the buttons of the MX500 or 518. The G7 goes to "sleep" to conserve the battery and needs a fraction of a second wake, making for irritating web surfing while I pause to read. As always, Newegg's turn time is unequaled.

Nice Gaming Mouse9/10/2006 12:32:35 PM
Pros: Has two thumb buttons, which most games support, and two buttons, that also function as an up/down scroll. I have one of these buttons mapped as a fire button on some games that require constant clicking of the fire button. This also works great in GTA games where you ride bikes and motorcycles. Also works great for swimming and sprinting.
Cons: The bundled drivers are worthless. If you load them, you will not be able to map the extra keys in your games, just use windows mouse driver.
Pros: -Long-lasting left-click and right-click
-Perfect weight, slightly heavier than the G400s
-Good feel, slightly "tackified" sides for good grip
-no "open palm heel area" which you get with the Razer Deathadder
Cons: -polling is about 125Hz
-800dpi
-not ambidextrous: designed for right-handed gamers/users
-optical
-no longer being manufactured
Overall Review: -IGN:"Recommended almost without reservation."
-I've still got my MX500. It still works, perfectly, after 12 years.
-Product heritage: MX500 -> MX518 -> G400 -> G400s
-I worked tech support for a major computer manufacturer

Excellent Mouse for CS:S1/3/2007 6:55:40 PM
Pros: The shape is identical to the excellent MX510/MX518, and the shape of a mouse is the most important thing. The sensor in this mouse, tracks movement up to very very fast speeds, you cannot make it skip like laser mice will. This is aruably the best low sensitivity player's mouse ever made. If you play CS:S or other game that requires fine aimming control for fast headshots, you will be amazed at what you can do with this old but good mouse. It is every bit as good as my MX510 before it's cord broke.
Cons: You need to install the driver for 400 dpi to work. The silver doesn't match my computer case just right? After about 2-3 years of heavy gaming the cord will probably start wearing out, requiring replacement or surgery. Although TBH, there are no flaws with this mouse.
Overall Review: I have tried many gaming mice, including: G5/MX1000/MX510/MX500/Copperhead.
I should have realized after my first Laser Mouse that the old school MX Optical mice are what is good for gaming. If you like to play with a fast sensitivity and turn around in just 3 inches or something get a mouse that offers more DPI. The mouseskates on it are not as slick as the G5, but it doesn't matter when that mouse can't track at the speeds I need to move the mouse to compete. I can't tell if this mouse out performs the broken MX510 it is replacing. I have already opened the two mouses up and their internals are look identical, so I think they are the same. This one is nice and clean with no grime on it like my MX510.

Great mouse11/13/2006 10:40:08 PM
Pros: Great mouse, owned for 2+ years. Very comfortable for my hand.
Cons: The drivers don't add much. Just use the windows drivers. Also, the buttons have stuck a couple times.
Pros: Smooth action, very acurate. Easy to program fully, and low profile software. Works fine with XP Pro multi-user system (my wife), unlike my Wacom tablet =P
Cons: So sensitive I have to flip it over when I put my PC in standby. When I walk past it'll flip the PC back on.
Overall Review: I'm enjoying this so much I'm getting it as a birthday gift for my cousin right now.
Comments: Just a great mouse overall. I use a Macintosh, and this mouse is much better than the standard mouse. Fits my hand nicely. Nice to be able to right click as well.
