Comments: Installation is a breeze. I'm using it with a LiteOn 16x DVD-RW Drive. I'm burning 4.7 gigs in 10 minutes (6x speed). The burn buffer remains full so the USB is plenty fast. No external drivers needed with XP. Just plugg it in to a box with burning software and your ready to go (Sweet). The only draw back is this things big. it's around 10 x 5.5 x 3. Still worth every penny. NewEgg rocks. Ordered Sunday came on Wend. Saved a ton.

Comments: Didn't even bother with the instructions, simply put four screws into hard drive, plugged in cables, closed up the case, and plugged it in. Win2K did the rest and the entire process took less than 10 minutes. The case is kind of cheap looking, but seems to be sturdy enough and I like the fact that it has its own internal PS, so no silly "brick on a cord" to deal with. Transfer rate seems ok, not lightning fast, but faster than a case I had used earlier. Another winner from Newegg. Why bother shopping anywhere else. I ordered this on a Sunday night and had it by Wednesday. Thats service!!

Comments: bought this enclosure for a dvd-R/-RW/+R/+RW dualed layer and I did not even need any software to install windows xp sp1 simply saw it when I plugged this enclosure to the USB2.0. Fast and reliable, no coaster atm so it's a good choice for the $. Packaging was nice and no problem whatsoever. Thanks newegg

I purchased this item for my DVD player so that I may use it on some of our older machines; this is my review: I chose this enclosure because of the internal power supply making it more versitile (you dont need a special power cord, a standard power cord will do). The circuitry is sturdy, nice saughter points, and the IDE ribbon can be replaced in case of failure, always a plus. What I dont like about the case is that it is a squeeze-open container and the device is mounted from the botton instead of the sides. Plastic seems sturdy. Transfer rates are good. Hard drives may get warm as it mounts to the bottom off-centered and doesnt allow air flow to reach the circuit board. Overall I rate this item 9/10, but would NOT recommend for hard drives over 100-gigs due to heating issues. Back-plate of the internal powersupply gets warm as well.

Comments: i got this drive figuring it would be cheap by the price but its actually a very nice piece of equipment. color bar is a nice addition but isn't necessary. i figured it would be driverless or prompt you for drivers (it didn't prompt me) but its and easy install. stickers are kinda lame to cover over screw holes.

Comments: I bought this to back up data from a laptop. To make this clear, the enclosure is a gray color. I wasn't sure from the picture as it could have been a lighting trick. The construction is ok, albeit a bit cheap. The light at the top isn't that great; it reminds me of the cheap lighting effects you sometimes see on random products. If you plan on swapping out between a CD/DVD drive and a harddrive, it is a little less than user-friendly. To remove the top, you have to hold thing thing with both hand and squeeze the side. I pulled a 20 gig drive out of an old machine to test it out and it worked fine. I also was able to play DVDs from a DVD drive I plugged in. Also, I noticed that the molex connecters are a bit hard to remove from my drives. Maybe I'm just a weakly, but I had to use a screwdriver to pry the connectors out a few times. It still does what it does and its cheap, so I give it a good rating. With WinXp, installation is easy; it's just switching things out that is a little annoying.
