Can this enclosure be used in the horizontal posistion?

Think of CD or DVD drives--some are vertical even if most are horizontal. So just like CD or DVD drives the hard drive will be just fine whether it's horizontal or vertical. The use of the stand provided is just optional so you can maximize desk space. So you can use the hard drive enclosure in any position you like.

P.S. I love the processing speed of this enclosure.

Question 2

Does this require any additional cables other than the USB cable and the power adapter that come with it? In other words, when putting the HDD inside the case, do I need a SATA cable or some other cable to physically connect the HDD to the case? Or does it slot straight in? Thanks!

Your drive will slide onto a connector that is part of the circuit board.  The drive is then secured to rails with screws.

Basically, all you need is your 3 1/2" drive and a small screwdriver to use this.

I have used this successfully with two drives: a Seagate 250GB and Maxtor 300GB.  Both are the nominal size for an internal 3 1/2" drive - roughly 1"high by 4" wide by 5 3/4" long.  I am extremely satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Does USB 3.0 functionality compatible with the Mid 2012 Macbook Pro (A1278)?

Probably the manufacturer will be the correct person to answer this but for what I know if the computer has USB 3.0 it should work just fine if not then is going to work with USB 2.0

This device is working just fine.

i have a wd10eavs Western Digital Caviar  10000 rpm drive
will this enclosure work and does it have eSATA connector?

Not sure if that drive will work, but if it meets the specs in the description it should. I have a 2TB WD drive in mine and it works fine. The only connector on this enclosure is USB 3.0, plus the 12v power connector.
