Question 1

Could I use this to transfer Data from desktop computer that will not power on anymore and connect it to another computer to transfer my files and programs that were on this internal drive in my desktop computer?

CH - works great for that.  You need to open up non-working PC - disconnect the 2 cables going to old hard drive - then unscrew hard drive from PC chassis.  (usually screwed to frame w/ 4 screws - but anyway that it is attached to the PC - it must be removed).  Once you have the hard drive free of the old PC - just slap it in here - it will connect internally inside this box with 2 sets of cables (just like the connection inside your pc).

You will need to plug this box into an electrical outlet (comes with the set).  Then just plug into USB slot of newer PC and you should be able to read the old hard drive w/ no problems.

What are the dimensions of the external enclosure?

This maybe off by couple of mm which is an extremely small length. Anyways the casing is 9.05 inches long by 5.15 inches wide and 1.45 inches high. This should be very close and it does hand an external power supply that plugs into the unit which I didn't measure how far it sticks out from the back when plugged in. Hope this helps. Good product with an even better price works with any HDD I've ever used to pull data off of.

Please Help, Will this enclosure work for a SEAGATE BARRACUDA ATA ST340016A  40GB ?  (this is a fairly common drive I pulled from my old Dell).
