Big Gen4 speed in the smallest M.2 size. The Micron 2550 packs a PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe drive onto a 22 x 30 mm card, made for systems with an M.2 2230 slot such as handheld gaming PCs, thin-and-light laptops, 2-in-1 tablets and mini PCs.

Gen4 performance
Up to 4,500 MB/s sequential read and 2,000 MB/s sequential write, with up to 380,000 / 400,000 random 4K read/write IOPS. Typical latency is 50 µs read and 12 µs write, so boots, app launches and game loads feel instant compared with SATA or eMMC storage.

232-layer NAND technology
Micron built the 2550 on its 232-layer TLC NAND, the first 232-layer NAND in a client SSD. Micron's six-plane design raises read and write bandwidth per die over its previous NAND generation, and Predictive Cache Optimization keeps the most active data in the fast SLC cache.

Efficient DRAM-less design
Host Memory Buffer (HMB) lets the drive use a small slice of system memory for its mapping tables, which keeps the card small and the power draw low: under 150 mW active idle, under 2.5 mW in PS4 sleep, and under 5.5 W during active reads. That means better battery life in portable devices, and the drive is designed for Intel Modern Standby platforms.

Reliability
Endurance is rated at 150TB written (TBW) with a 2,000,000-hour MTTF. Also included: RAIN data protection, S.M.A.R.T. monitoring, power-loss protection for data at rest, and Micron Storage Executive support.
