Question 1

I am looking for a replacement for OLD comfort mouse 3000.  With Win7, side button would turn on and off a movable magnifying window.  Will this mouse do that?

John - the right side button can be set to do what you want it to, yes.   I just checked and by default, it is set to be "Browser Forward".  However, I was able to easily change it to "Magnify", as that was one of the custom options in the Microsoft Mouse software.   After changing to this option, the button then did a 200% magnification via the magnify tool.   I just had to then change the tool to "lens" view, and then it worked as you described.

Question 2

I have an old mouse that has programmable buttons I use for Copy, Paste, Double click, etc. does this mouse or any other you could recommend have these options?

Yes, I value the copy/paste programmable options of the (old) Intellimouse also.   This mouse does provide those options.  I can't recall if the Intellimouse software cd shipped with this mouse, but the software can easily be downloaded from the Microsoft site so that the mouse can be programmed.
It's sometimes inconvenient to have  wired mouse, but this was the only option I found with effective programmable buttons.
