Question 1

What is the Front panel LED for? All the product brief says is infra-red sensor. But I think it is multi-purpose. I is red when idle and turn blue when awake. Does anybody know?

Well, I think you just answered your own question. The front LED is red when in sleep mode and blue when the NUC is fully awake. But don't confuse the infrared sensor and the LED - they are two different things. The sensor "eye" is just to the right of the LED when you are looking at the front face of the NUC. You can see it clearly if you shine a flashlight at it.

Sorry  - can't answer.  Never tried it with 2.   I'd need an HDMI and a DP Monitor - or  monitor with both DP In & Out  and don't have the resources.

Is the 8gb memory free with purchase? When I added the unit to my shopping cart, I don't see the memory as part of my total order.
Also, I selected M2 SSD, what is the difference between ordering an M2 or 2.5HD/SSD? version? Thanks

I got a similar deal with my NUC and the memory showed up as a separate order. The problem was that the free memory had an unusual clock speed the conflicted with the normal memory that came with it. I complained about it, but the memory was "free" so they would not replace it with the same brand that came with it. I ended up buying an 8Gig stick and all is well. Bottom line is, don't buy it for the free memory. If it works, great - If not, buy one and press on. My NUC failed a few weeks ago and had to be replaced. The company was very prompt in sending me a new one and, because the unit is based on chips (no Drive), the changeover was incredibly simple. I am back up and running and; hopefully, this one will last for years.

Can this run Windows?

I am running Windows 10 without a hitch, all drivers are available from Intel's website for many different OS flavors/versions.
