So its not an SSD yet its "optimized for gaming"? Is an SSD still far superior for gaming? Why buy this instead of just getting ssd?

I use this drive in music recording and production instead of an SSD because it is optimized for hours of strenuous use where as an SSD is more optimized for use as an operating systems drive. And by the by, this drive is great !, never a problem. I've also used it as a systems drive and it does well there also but it is better used in my system as a production tool. Can i use this as an internal drive?

No, not internal, USB only. Works great though. I use it as OS drive and I've had no trouble with the drive and although the computer sleeps, I never shut it down. Well worth the investment for me.

Is this drive compatible as is with 3.0 connector?    Adapter required?

it works with Win10, but not sure about Linux since I'm not running a Linux machine. If other usb external HDDs work on your linux machine, there's no reason why this one won't work since it's like every other external HDD pre-formatted. The "Game Drive" title is more of a marketing gimmick-it's essentially a WD black drive in a sealed case for durability and environmental portabilit.
