can i delete the free software?

If you have a Windows system, it may be useful, but I don't know for sure.  My understanding is that if you use MacOS or Linux, you need to use the system software to format and then utilize the device. I have a Linux system and I just formatted the disk and used system software to backup what I needed. If you are planning to use the disk to transfer files from one operating system to another, ensure that the file system on the disk is usable by all operating systems you might use.

Does this have its own power supply? The model keeps coming up in my searches in various websites/search engines when I search for external hard drive with ac adapter/power supply, etc, but none of the pictures or descriptions show or say there is a separate power supply.

Most portable external hard drives use the usb port for power.  Some have a special cable with two usb connectors to add more power.  This drive does not need that. it is powered just from the usb port it is plugged into.

Is there a cord to connect to the computer?

Yes, a cord is supplied. It is a USB cord about 18 inches long.

I used this for my xbox one for a few years. I no longer own the xbox one so i uninstalled all of the games off the hard drive. can I use this hard drive for my pc even if i formatted it for my xbox??

it is a  great disk for backups on Windows or Mac.  Plug it into an usb port and look in windows explorer.  If it shows up there you can format it to wipe all the remaining files and make it an NTFS disk.  If it does not you will need to go to  Start  - computer- manage- disk management and look for the disk near the bottom of the list.  Delete the partitions and recreate it as a basic disk.  Then  you can format it.  Be Sure ! it is that disk and not your C: drive or any other disk on your system.

It's really the software/OS you are using that determines whether or not you can "Drag and Drop". In Windows for example, it should show up under "This PC" / "Computer" and yes you can drag folders and files to it.

No... all it requires is a USB port... Preferably USB 3.0 over the older USB ports, but it will still work with older USB ports, just slower.

Is this a SSD?

No, It is not. The internal SSDs are on sale for about $120. The portables are more than that. Hope this helps.

Does this device work when connected directly to an Android device?

No, because the drive requires power supplied via the USB and the android device does not supply any power. Some USB flash drives do work of you have the required USB to Micro USB adaptor.

Yes. It's a usb 3 drive which it means it simply plugs into a usb port. I normally disconnect usb devices using the OS before I unplug them. I installed Linux on the drive and use it to boot my computer by simply plugging it into the usb port. If I pull the drive the computer will boot Windows from the internal drive. It works great and I don't have to use Microsoft OS on the internet as it never works to do so  for very long. Anyway... Great drive.

Would this also work  as an supplemental external expansion drive for a PS4 Pro?

The WD 1TB Elements Portable Storage USB 3.0 Model WDBUZG0010BBK-WESN Black is compatible with USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices. However, it is formatted NTFS and compatible with Windows 10, 8.1, and 7. Reformatting would be required for other operating systems, including potentially for use with a PS4 Pro.
