Does this board require the 2 x 8-pin ATX connectors or is one sufficient?

Well, no, but it kind of depends.... The second 8 pin power connector helps with overclocking the power hungry i9 9900k (which is the processor this board was really made for). However, the second 8 pin connector is technically considered "optional" especially if you were using a i7 9700K or i5 9600k rather than the i9 9900k. That being said, if you do any overclocking at all, I would want that second 8 pin plugged in. But to answer your question directly - No - it is not required for the board to operate you can use just one 8 pin. Just remember though if you OC hard and push your processor (especially if it's a i9 9900K), you could have probs.

Is this compatible with an Intel 5 processor ?

I'll assume you mean the i5 and the answer is yes it will however to run on this motherboard it must be 8th Gen or newer. Although some of the older processors use the same socket type they aren't compatible with the newer motherboards. If you can give me a specific model number for the processor I may be more helpful.

Anyone running this with a Core i9?

Yes, I am running an Intel Core i9-9900K on the MEG Z390 ACE board. This is a very fine board. It has been trouble-free and looks great. Right now I have my 9900K running at 4.9GHz on all cores at 1.2v (of course this is more chip dependent than board dependent). Cooling it with a Corsair H115i Platinum RGB. Temps are very good. Almost went with a ASUS Maximus X Hero board but so glad I got this one instead. The power delivery is much better here on the ACE.

I have heard that removing the standoff under the m.2 heat sink to accommodate a 2280 m.2 ssd is difficult and a lot of people have had no success. Has anyone successfully remove this standoff and if so how?

Easy as pie. Just use a philips #1 or #2 screwdriver (I forgot what size exactly) to remove the heatsink, then under the heatsink is the standoff that takes a p#1 or p#2 screw driver to remove also, then just move it to the 80 mm spot for the nvme m.2 . Be sure to read the manual for further instructions installing your nvme ssd.

Is this board compatible with F4-3600C17D-16GTZR RAM? It's not on the QVL.

According to the G.SKILL web site it is. I can't put the link in this reply but you can do a search for F4-3600C17D-16GTZR and it was the first one on the list. If you click on QVL then expand MSI then expand Z390 you can see it in the list.

Does this motherboard support Windows 7 64bit?

Windows 10 64bit only. The Intel Opene wont work on any other OS

Can you update bios without a CPU installed?

Hello, Thank you for contacting us in regards to your question. With this model yes, you can update the BIOS without the CPU being installed. You will need to go to MSI's official website to download the BIOS update and put it in a USB stick. Then press the BIOS button on the back of the motherboard and connect the USB stick from there. I'm very interested in this board. Is anyone running 4 sticks of ram for the max of 64GB ? If so, Which ram are you using ? Thank you in advanced.

I'm currently running 48GB currently - G Skill TridentZ DD4 3200 (25600) - 2 @8GB and 2@16GB - Don't see why I would have a problem with this memory running 64GB. Don't think I'm going to need more RAM - this amount is adequate for my needs.

Where is the list of approved memory modules for this board??? I went to the MSI website and it only lists CPU, VGA, Storage and RGB certification and even downloaded the motherboard manual and still don't see it anywhere.
