Pros: Price/performance ratio of course. Good to see a non-reference cooler this early in the card's release. Have heard and read all the reports of high temperatures with this GPU. This card however manages to maintain mid 30 idle as well as mid 50 load temps. Image quality given by this card compared to my previous setup was a pleasant surprise.
Cons: RAM seems to be a bit hot, although I don't have any temp readings to go by nor any artifacting/instability issues. I'm probably digging here.
Overall Review: I have been a long time Nvidia only guy. When my 4th 780I board died recently i decided to grab a P5Q Deluxe and this card. Since i could no longer get another 9800GTX for SLI, I thought i would make the switch. Boy am I glad i did. The frame count in game is nearly identical to my GTX, the image quality however is FAR better than the Nvidia. If you are contemplating making the switch to ATI, don't hesitate.
Pros: Excellent custom cooler and heatsink, and only takes up 2 slots (unlike the S1 cooler which takes up 3 slots with a fan). Mine came with a much/longer larger heatsink over the voltage regulators on the end of the card)
Cons: The default fan speed is higher than needed during idle.
Overall Review: This card is definitely worth getting over the normal 4850 cards. I had a S1 heatsink on a previous 4850 card and ended up damaging the card due to it (the s1 heatsink is just too tall and bends easily, and can ruin the gpu). The heatsink is great looking, along with nice looking graphics. Its has a plastic covering over the front of the heatsink which also makes it look nice. My only gripe is that the idle fan speed is too fast (enough that I can hear it). It spins at 2800rpm for an idle speed, and goes up to 3500rpm or higher during games. I did a "profile" fan modification and change the percentage to 47% which made the card quiet, and cooled just as well at idle. During games the temperature was only a few degrees higher than the previous default fan speed. At idle its 43 or 44c, and full continuous load its 63c. Overclockersclub.com has a great review of this card overclocked.
Pros: Temps: idle 40-44C, load ~60C. MSI has included the best cooler available on a 4850 to this date. Cant do better without going aftermarket. You can control fan speed in RT 2.11! The card you will get will have a bracket with holes in it to exhaust hot air outside of the case. Also the heatsink that is close to the power connector is twice the size of the one pictured.
Cons: 2D clocks of 625/993, the same as 3D. I was hoping they would be a bit lower like some other cards are. (to help save power).
Overall Review: Happy with my purchase and I think you will be too.
Pros: Had BSOD errors on ASUS 4850 card, replaced it with this card, reloaded the drivers and it runs flawless. I can finally play Crysis without getting ati3duag.dll errors. Previous card had to be defective. This card never gets over 55C when gaming. Fan is super quiet, which makes this card better than the other stock 4850 cards. During a format or bootup, I know my card isn't going to reach 80C as others do.
Cons: Doing the Fan Hack does not make any difference with this card. Maybe 5C at the most and the RPM's must stay at a low RPM as it's very difficult to hear . However, the fan fix is not needed with this card but still wanted to see what max cooling could be. Overall, not really a con here. DRIVERS need improvement! BE SURE BEFORE YOU UPDATE DRIVERS OVER YOUR EXISTING, YOU USE THE ATI-UNINSTALL UTILITY IN YOUR ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
Overall Review: COD4 60fps all settings maxed, Crysis 1680x1050 resolution on Win XP High Settings most of the time easily stays around 35-40 fps (Amazing game by the way). So far runs everything i throw at it. Recommend spending a few extra bucks to get this card, primarily for it's cooling advantage.
Pros: This is a great card. On my machine it idles around 40C and under load it gets around 50C. I can't tell that the fan is running even under load because it's so quiet.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: I got a GTX 280 before this one. I could have prepared breakfast on it and it sounded like a vacuum under load. I can't tell any performance difference between this card and that one. I would recommend this card to anyone. It's a cool, quiet, high-end card for a great price.
Pros: Built my new system with this card, its fast like all Radeon 4850 cards are, but what I love about this card is the beefy two slot cooling solution actually works. Under load this card runs just a little over 40C in my Antec 300 case, running idle I am at 32C constant, its an amazing cooling solution for a chip that has been known to run hot. Fan is not too loud, even under load. Runs every game I throw at it at nice specs, plenty of overhead for future games I would think. Great overall value for the price paid. Overclocks fairly well (not difficult to get a nice 10% overclock)
Cons: The pack in proprietary driver that MSI gives you is just plain broken. Card did not run stable on it. When you get this card, just chuck that disk over your shoulder, go to ATI.com to download the latest catalyst driver set, and you will be good to go. I have been vpu error free for hours upon hours of gaming and video with the standard 8.11 catalyst release from ATI.com. Not sure why vendors have to try to put thier own coat of paint on it, it just bloats the driver, and causes issues.
Overall Review: There are a number of great values in graphics right now, and you might be tempted to spend a little less to get something with a single slot cooler, or worse, a dual slot cooler that looks fancy, but does nothing productive. Spend a few extra dollars and get yourself this design from MSI. Its obvious they did their homework when designing the cooler.
Pros: Fast and stable - but most importantly RUNS COOLER than the other 4850s. This fan/heatsink config seems to be the best and you'll probably be seeing more of it. Idles about 38c at stock fan speed. You can look at the charts at toms hardware etc and see for yourself that the 4850 is currently about the most bang for the buck. The 4870s give about a 10 percent performance boost in framerates and are half again more dinero. The 8800GTXs and 9800s have similar perfromance but run much hotter. And this particular card is very overclockable and easily so with the new CCC software from ATI. The current state of ATI drivers and utilities is excellent. I downloaded the newest files, clicked "Auto-Tune" and it shows that this card runs happily under 100% load at 690/1163(2336) at the stock fan speed of 50% -- as opposed to the stock 625/993(1986). If you're "doin the math" considering this card, you should consider that. And it's just one checkbox to run it stock or jammin. Happy gamer here!
Cons: Make sure you intall it with the new Catalyst drivers from ATI. No cons as of yet. This card was put in a brand new build: ASUS M3A79-T Deluxe, AMD 6000+, 2GB Gskill 800's running XP32 pro SP3. I am also way happy with the board, may drop a phenom in it with 4GB of 1066 at some point. Similarly awesome software available for overclocking at AMD (Overdrive) available at their site, along with instructional videos. Fun! Happy with this hardware, and both ATI and AMD's software has a lot to do with that. Currently using stock cooling in NZXT apollo case.
Overall Review: New build, clean install of XP32 proSP2, couldnt get HD audio workin til I installed Service Pack 3. After the install, windows found another HDMA hardware device that it wanted to install an updated (from 2007) driver for. I said okay, it nuked all audio and corrupted the registry. Quick googling reveals other AMD chipset users having similar loss of audio and registry corruption with SP3. Blarg. Reformatted (quick) and re-intalled windows, got audio after SP3 install, but this time i said 'no' to that file and told it not to bug me again. Works fine now, with that little weidness still flagged in Device Mangler. Annoying, but i "won" that battle. Yay! And oh yeah, the card is great for about 200 as of this writing. Currently the Powercolor 4870/1G with the same fan/heatsink config is attractive for the above mentioned reasons, but i wasn't able to talk myself into the extra hunnert bux. It was DEFINITELY worth it to spend the extra 20 on this one due to the superior cooling.

Pros: idles at 34 c , and it summertime blows the pants off my x1950xt maxes out world in conflict with ease allows you to experience physics and gaming how it should be played silent operation, cant hear it over hd plenty of OC room, but at the moment you don't need to best price / performance ratio pretty wicked copper heatsink and fan design RUNS PERFECT on my 480w power supply, with several LED's and fans hooked up
Cons: two slots but doesnt direct exhaust out of case more expensive then stock 4850 and no factory OC
Overall Review: wow, I dont know what else to say. I am a long ATI fan, and have refused to upgrade my x1950xt which was OC'd for the longest. I had almost jumped ship, but then ATI returned just in time. This card is wonderful, idles plenty cool as oppossed to the stock cooler, and runs all my games maxed out easily. Whats even funnier is I have pci xpress 1.0 , so this thing isnt even running full potential. I would caution those with really small cases though. This thing is big, but easily fit into my mid tower case. I'm glad I waited for a better cooled version of the 4850. I could have gotten the gtx 260 for about $30 more after rebates, but then I would need to get a much bigger power supply as well. GET THIS CARD, it won't fry your components, and runs like an olympic athlete.
