Pros: Fast and looks nice.. If u notice the fans stopped when u watching a movie or idle... its ment to do that lol, So chill if u got no fan wile gaming that's diff. Install was 1-2-3 one 8pin & 6pin for power takes 2 slots. AMD has there software to put yer card down to 300mhz and mem clock very low to save power when your not rendering your UNITY - UE4.8 or CAD projects besides gaming, I team one with I7 4770 and one with a AMD 8350. NOT ONE ISSUE so far with thes cards! If u have bad airflow in your case... and same with heat.. heat very low unless u have bad airflow in your case... 50c 56c after few hours of 1080p gaming dayZ, h1z1 BR, thief, BF3-4, witcher enhanced ed. farcry, crisis, metro ast light, I can keep going and DK2! 75fps np on all demos and games pretty much aswell bad airflow can put your card up to 70c ! Makes my R9 280 Look like little man. And the R9 280 Played every game on ultra or high some hard core games med high with all the eye candy on. ANYONE WHO IS A NEWBIE!!!! @!@!@!@!@!@! #1 Download the DRIVERS FROM AMD! ANY VIDEO CARD U DL DRIVERS FROM NVIDIA OR AMD NOT THE CARDS WEBSITE! NVIDIA OR AMD WEBSITES ONLY!!! #2 Uninstall old video card drivers........ #3 SHUTDOWN PC!!!!!! Then Install video card Then install the drivers once u turn it back on, U downloaded before uninstalling the old drivers so lets install them new drivers u DL'ed. After driver install restart and defrag system if u have a SSD OPTIMIZE IT u only defragg HDD.... u will gain more fps and the rig will be more responsive after hehe. if u have a fragmented HDD that's take some FPS and speed from u ;( DEFRAGG IT! or SSD OPTIMIZE it! lets not have any id10t ERRORS!!! once again no ID10T errors plz... #4 PLAY YOUR VIDEO GAMES!!!! Its all done :) And I better not see u on the battlefield :) If its a new build after u get internet access after installing your drivers. Go to AMD or NVIDIA website and DL NEW DRIVERS AND INSTALL THEM!!! I have yet to have any probs with my R9 280's or these R9 390's !!!! NOT ONE ISSUE! I see many people talk about odd issues.. makes me think there tech newbies :*)
Cons: umm... bleh... it has a pretty light on it too lol if it gets loud U NEED TO GET PROPER FAN AIRSTREAM GOING!!! that means u have bad airflow with no new air flowing into the case or going out the case! If one doesn't follow our ISO standards for removing old drivers before installing new hardware!!!!!! LOL@the NEWBIE. go get A+ cert that's what its for :) Its to learn the standard for electronics :)
Overall Review: I like pancakes!
Pros: No issues out of the box. Installed with a fresh copy of W 8.1. Runs just at around the same temp as my old 280x, and hardly uses more power. Not that I really care about that, will be maybe $1.25 more on the bill each month. Plenty of vram for future monitor upgrades if I want them, and for the 2k texture pack mods for Skyrim. Also, as another reviewer stated, GTA V uses a bit more than 4gb of vram at maxed out settings at some points in the game. Same with Shadow of Mordor with its texture packs. It's neat to not have to worry about that for a while.
Cons: No
Overall Review: The purchase/upgrade was between this card and a GTX 970. I got this one because I personally haven't had problems with AMD in the past, so figured I would stick with the familiar drivers. It works clean and has no problems so far, and the control center is easy enough to navigate through. Perhaps I fail to remember what Nvidia drivers were like as I have not used them since the GTX 550ti? Either way, the drivers work just fine. Don't worry about it to much when deciding to purchase this beast of a GPU.
Pros: easy install, FASSST... SMOKIN FAST Fallout 4 came up full optimization without my having to tweak it. its less hot than my old R9 280 was. Running 670 watt power supply and its all good.
Cons: None that I have seen.
Overall Review: I have noted folks complaining about heat. Having put together a lot of computers, consider this: I have noted almost any Video card tends to get hotter when that card is paired with a slower CPU. when I have upgraded CPUs to a faster CPU that same video card tends to run colder. Its not always about the video card when it comes to the heat issues.
Pros: Card exudes quality. Is very heavy and sturdy. Great performance over my 7870. 8gb of VRAM is useful. Provides a very good frame buffer for gaming. Far Cry 4 runs maxed out, very smooth. I have owned 4 AMD cards so far, and this one far surpasses the quality of any of my previous cards. Everything loaded up and worked flawlessly the first time around. No problems at all. Card is whisper quiet in my case and runs cooler than my Sapphire 7870.
Cons: The card has a lot of bulk to it. This is not really a con for me. Most of the bulk comes from the heat spreaders that the card uses to cool itself. That being said it does a great job of cooling. Users should definitely keep in mind the width of the card. It's very long across and very wide. It really is a 3 slot card. It just barely fit in my NZXT H440. I was going to get the Sapphire model of this card, because I loved my Sapphire 7870. I am glad I did not, because this model would not have fit in my case.
Overall Review: I am writing this review because as of today nearly 20% of the reviews for this card are negative. Most people are complaining about driver issues and windows 10 issues. All I can say is: What issues? - I hate to sound like a jerk here, but some of these complaints must be due to people installing incorrect drivers, or not properly removing their old drivers. The new Crimson drivers work absolutely fine with windows 10. I experienced no problems with my install. Everything worked flawlessly.
Pros: -Runs very cool for a multi-gpu setup(top card maxes around 83c after several hours of unigine heaven extreme, bottom I haven't seen above 70c) -Easy installation and low power comsumption. x1 8pin x1 6pin per card, my 1000w EVGA can power both of them OC'd as well as an OC'd i7 5820k no problem. -Brilliant preformance. The two that I own preformed about 30% better in Unigine, 102.6 fps vs 86.8 fps on stock clocks.
Cons: -None so far
Overall Review: Ignore everyone who's saying they're getting black screens after windows startup, they're not installing the gpu correctly. Proper method (went from the temporary gt 640 with nvidia drivers to x2 390s no problem): 1) Download DDU Driver Remover 2) Enter Safe Mode 3) Start DDU 4) Select "Clean and Shutdown (For installing new graphics card)" 5) Let the program run 6) Once shutdown remove old gpu and install new If you're installing this as the system's first card 1) Install card in pci-e lane 2) Start PC 3) Install whatever OS you're using, presumably windows 4) DO NOT allow windows to automatically update your graphics drivers 5) Go to AMD's driver page and find the right drivers (ex 15.7) 6) Install drivers and restart
Pros: - Fast - Handled just about whatever I threw at it on Ultra-High settings with solid 60+ frame rates. You'll be ready for the next generation engines with this bad boy. - Quite - I just had to order new case fans because I noticed I could not hear this thing over how loud the case fans are getting - New Drivers - AMD's new driver set is a huge improvement over where they were a year ago. - Excellent Build Quality - MSI has really stepped up their game the past few years. This thing is a site to behold with just the right amount of subtle flair. The back plate looks sweet and will keep this large peice of silicon sturdy for years. The lit up MSI logo a nice touch.
Cons: - Size. If you have a smaller case you might find it a little hard to get in there. My Corsair Obsidian had no problem though.
Overall Review: Dont listen to the Nvidia fanboys. Team Red is putting out impressive cards. Support the company that is working towards more open driver tech as its better for everyone in the end.
Pros: Installed without any trouble for a friend , everything was like expected , no surprise. -8gb is futur proof since gta 5 already using all of gtx 980 4gb -good cooling system from msi ( just like my msi 980 personnal desktop ) -his r9 390+i5 4690k scored beter than my fx-8350oc+gtx 980 on passmark and other benchmark some have stated that driver was an issues, i've installed using the dvd provided and than updated online , no problem so far , look beautifull on my friends 4k vizio only had time to test spintire on 4k ( no problem there )
Cons: its is big , but fitted very well on a cheap rosewill Mid tower or even my zalman z9 plus mid tower. so no problem with the size.
Overall Review: i am a fair reviewer , not a fanboy do love nvidia as much as Amd Gpu or Intel as Amd cpu , they all have their Pros and Cons and i still suggest any brand to my client in regards of their needs. ( sorry for my poor english )
Pros: Cooling - Twin Frozer V - Currently have no issues with coolling and overheating on stock clock speeds and boosted clock speeds. Noise - I don't have any issue with noise whether it's loud or not, but for some they do. This card has very little fan noise especially during load to where sometimes I feel as if the fans are not even spinning (I upgraded from an Nvidia GTX 680 where the fans sounded like a car engine fan so I'm not used to this much silence.) Performance - Major increase in performance especially with the benefit of 8GB of VRAM which is an insane amount for this card and for how much it costs at the moment. So far it seems a little bit much but it will come in handy sometime in the future. Other Uses - I have a three monitor setup currently running off of this card (2 DVI and 1 HDMI @ 1920x1080 @ ~60hz) and everything runs perfectly as expected and no issues experienced other than driver issues (Not really a pro but it's nice) It actually has the listed amount of VRAM other than the GTX 970 with it's "4GB of VRAM (Which it only has 3.5GB) and for about the same price if not less, with slightly better performance in most tests compared to the 970, this card was the clear choice for a $350+ card.
Cons: Drivers -As of now, the drivers are currently buggy for certain games. So far, in GTA V, Far Cry 4 and the Battlefront beta(Which was expected at least) and just browsing any browser being a video or music, the drivers seem to fail a few times and cause a deadlock or freeze on the PC forcing a hard restart. (Version: 15.20.1062.1004-150803a1-187674C) - A fresh install of the drivers seemed to have fixed the issue slightly but not entirely so where I only experience the issue occasionally now. Other games such as Star Citizen, Elite Dangerous or the Rainbow Six Siege beta ran very well and so had no driver issues. Weight and size - Not really a con but a matter of preference and compatability. Some people may or may not like the wight of the card and may feel as if it will put stress onto a PCI Port or the whole motherboard and damage either of the two, I currently don't have an issue. Size, many will complain ans they may have to upgrade motherboards or their case or both depending on their setup. But overall these cons are temporary and will obviously change in the future as more and more updates come through and things get adjusted and edited.
Overall Review: 4/5 Due to current drivers at the moment but the rest of the card has amazed me so far and I am loving it. I love the back plate MSI put on this card, it doesn't add much to it except a sleek look and ability to handle the card in a more comfortable matter rather than worrying about fondling the bare card with your hands. LED Light - When the card is powered on it emits a small LED light on the top of the card with the MSI logo which is a nice little touch. IF MY REVIEW DOES NOT HELP YOU IN ANY WAY, I AM SORRY, I AM NOT THE BEST AT WRITING REVIEWS.
