I have a 27 inch iMac from late 2012.  This is the memory I put in my machine.  I have had no problems since install.  Check online for instructions for install.  The tab that is pulled really pulls hard. Good luck.
The above memory should work.  I am not a computer geek, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn last night.
