Mushkin Enhanced 550250 580W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Pros: SLI certified, quiet, modular cabling. The prettiest component of my case that I unfortunately have inside of a non-windowed case.

Cons: Lost my bottom 140mm intake fan on my Cooler Master CM-690 case due to the length of this power supply and the plugs on the modular cables(120mm wouldn't fit either). I didn't get the fancy AC power cable pictured either. I'm not happy with the green LED, but it's bearable. These are really minor nit-picks, and a great excuse to upgrade to a bigger case:).

Overall Review: Aside from the missing power cable, and the bright green LED, this is an awesome power supply. I replaced my Hipro 500wt power supply(that was reliable as the day I got it) with this one to clean up the wiring in my case, and I achieved my goal. The cables are stiff, but feel very solid. I've had enlight, allied, Hipro, this one is what appears to be the most serious in respects to it's job of powering my system. BTW, the green LED reflects off my wall from over a foot away.

Pros: Plenty of power, quad rail, extra ground protection, rail fusion, nice cables and it's good looking. I replaced a 500 watt ultra X-Connect PS with this one. AMD 64 4000+ OC'd, 1 Cdrom, 1 Floppy, 2 gigs mushkin pc4000 ram, 2 sata hard drives raid 0, agp X1950 pro 512 meg video card, 2 molex connectors. My system was constantly rebooting, could not over clock the video card with my old PS, put this one in and I no longer get reboots while gaming and I can overclock the video card with no problems. Great power supply, very stable PS and I am very happy with it so far.

Cons: It's big, took some work to get it into my Tsunami case. Had to remove my zalman and a few other things, green light stays on in the back when the PC is off. If your going sli or crossfire you might want to get a 600+ PS but this is supposed to be fine with that configuration.

Overall Review: I know a few reviews were bad because the PS was DOA or stopped working after 24 hours but that's just the nature of computer hardware. I have gotten new memory that was bad right from the get go. It happens, Don't give a cry baby review just because you had to call muskin to get a replacement. They fully warranty the PS for 5 years.

Pros: This thing is stable! Voltage on the 12v rails, 3v, and 5v never fluctuate more than .05-.08v, I don't care what you're running. Awesome smoked-mirror finish, deep green LED fan that is just bright enough, but not too bright, modular cables, cables sleeving is great quality. A great buy all around!

Cons: Not sure if this is a con against Mushkin, or myself, but the 4 pin CPU power cable was almost too short to reach the top of my A8N-SLI Premium in an Antec 900 case. It reaches, but has to be ran up over the northbridge heatsink, then under/through my Zalman 9500. Yes, it reaches, but it looks very messy. Forget about routing it behind the motherboard. It just is not long enough. Wouldn't be an issue in a case with a top-mount PSU, but it may pose a problem in a case like mine. With full tower cases being more and more popular, PSU makers need to be adding more lenth to these cables. Another 2 inches would have been plenty.

Overall Review: My system: AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ @ 2.76Ghz, 2x512Mb Crucial Ballistix DDR500, ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, Sound Blaster Audigy 2, 200Gb Maxtor SATA, 4x 120mm fans, 1x 200mm fan, DVD-RW, Antec 900 case, Mushkin 580w PSU, all rock-solid stable with this PSU with juice to spare!

Pros: Modular cabling is great. The Mushkin cables were all covered in snakeskin with the ends sealed with heat-shrink tubing. This is a sign of high quality. They provided ample numbers and configurations of the modular cables, accomodating anything you need to power. I could not ask for higher quality in the cabling--a very important aspect of building a PC.

Cons: The PSU was about 1.25" longer than most other units. I installed it in an Antec P182, and had to remove a fan in the lower chamble because it interferred with the PSU connections. The 4 or 8 pin 12V cable was just barely long enough when connecting to an ASUS Maximus Formula. This is probably a case thing, and not because the Mushkin's cables are unusually short.

Overall Review: Quiet, So far--so good. I have to repeat that the cabling is of very high quality and the snakeskin really makes the interior look good, and minimizes disruption of air flow.

Pros: Very nice looking. Modular. Lots of jumpers on the cables...I only had to hook up one PCI 6 pin, One SATA, and one molex in addition to the motherboard cables (integral to the power supply) in order to hook everything in my case up. It's Heavy- that's a good sign. Silent fan.

Cons: Well if I have to pick something....the power cord is black, not the cool checkerboard grey color like the pictures show.

Overall Review: The green "spotlight" only turns on when the computer is off to let you know there is power at the input side of the PSU (I can't even see it since my case is close to the wall) When you turn the computer on the Fan lights up green and looks cool as it shines through the back grill and down onto my CPU cooler.

Pros: What's not to like about this PSU. I like the appearance, the modular cables, the tech specs., and the value. Especially the value. Compare the specs. (4 12v rails @ 20A) for this unit with other quality brands with the same power and you can see the Mushkin has great "bang for the buck". I fully expect this PSU to meet my needs well into my next major up-grade (SLI or Crossfire)

Overall Review: ONE WORD of CAUTION: This is a BIG power supply.. It measures a full 7" from front to back. I have a full tower case and I lost the use of the two 5 1/2 drive bays directly behind the PSU. Only a 2 3/4 inch gap between drive cage and PSU. Right where all the wires connect to the power supply, leaving no room to connect wires to the optical drives that could go there... Being a full tower, I had bays to spare, so no problem for me. Others with smaller cases may have a problem.

Pros: 84% efficiency, modular cables, great metal finish, Green light is cool. This is a great unit, easy to install with the modular cables booted up the first time. I run my computer 24/7 at 100% CPU. This power supply is going to to that job and do it well. I replaced an aging 350W FSP. My overclocks on my board are now stable and no more crashing of the computer. Great supply, look no further.

Cons: Cables could be a bit softer and not so stiff. But that is it, nothing really to complain about.

Overall Review: These guys may be a bit new to the Power Supply scene, but they deliver and deliver well. Look no further than Mushkin

Pros: I've never been so impressed with a power supply. Aside from functioning as advertised, it's the tiny details that put it a step above the rest. Automatic input voltage detection, ferrite cores, a grounding cable... it's almost as if an actual electrical engineer designed this! Aesthetically it takes a minimalist approach across the board right down to the packaging. The only notable features are a green LED on the back and the glossy finish covering the whole unit. Looks quite nice in my opinion. Manual contains a wealth of information such as timing diagrams and wire harness diagrams not normally seen in consumer products.

Cons: Modular cable compatibility is deceptive. I used this as a replacement for another modular power supply of a different brand thinking I could replace it without re-running all the peripheral cables. Even though the cables fit the same connectors on the PSU, it didn't work. Fortunately, the computer simply refused to turn on rather than frying everything plugged into it. The cables that run to the video card have a rubberized coating reducing their bend radius. Even in a large case, there is usually very little space between the video card and hard drives, and this cable could cause a tight squeeze.

Overall Review: Mail-in rebates should be outlawed.
