Does this come with cloning and maintenance software?

No, Just the drive in a plastic clamshell with a paper insert. While you can clone your drive to an SSD usually the best results come from just reinstalling the OS and software.

I have researched the 2 Mushkin MKNSSDAT480GB / DX mSATA chips. What does the DX mSATA get you for the price difference? Looking at the spec sheets they have the same info other then the DX uses less power.

Specifically higher write speeds are noted due to improved NAND memory. Research reviews and compare to Samsung, Plextor, Crucial, and Intel. The one you are looking at it a bit older than some of the more recent product releases, so take that into account when comparing the price and value.
