does it need a heatsink or should it be good as is?

Okay I bought an ADATA with a heat sink but I didn't find it helped in fact I removed the heat sink and ruined my ADATA NVMe by bending the drive when removing the covered it stuck good, so good I bent the drive in it's bay and popped it out of its socket. I replaced it with Samsung NVMe with no shield and it worked fine. This drive the mushkin I bought to put into a Silverstone casing as an eternal usb drive it has no heat shield and works fine. It is way faster than any usb thumb drive I have ever owned 296.7mb vs 41.32mb from a Kingston 128

Question 2

Does this device come with PC cloning software to merge/transfer my PC's operating system and information? I have a fairly new HP Pavilion 24-xa0076 All-in-One and I want to get an m.2 for it so I can not only speed the system up, but to also ensure I don't lose my data because of a hdd failure. I've had too many crash with all my data on the hdd, and ssd are much less likely to leave me in the lurch. Thanks.

No. If you buy a the right m.2 you can use Macrium Reflect  which is free and clone the system, that is what I did. Your m.2 needs to be the same size or larger than you hard drive on your HP. I replaced the hard drive on my HP Envy from 1 TB to 1TB. I only mention this as the exiting hard drive can't be resized by Macrium cloning  but if you use Acronis it can resize cloning on the fly.

Can this be purchased without the "gaming codes"?  I don't want to get screwed like the first reviewer.
