Use the Rosewill 1.75mm PLA 3D printer filament to get outstanding 3D printing results. The PLA printer filament extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate. When properly cooled, PLA printer filament seems to have higher maximum printing speeds, lower layer heights, and sharper printed corners.

Rosewill PLA filament offers a wide range of available colors, translucencies, and a glossy feel. It is perfect for those who print for display or small household uses. You’ll also appreciate its plant-based origins, and love the semi-sweet smell, over ABS.

Pros: When it is feeding well it makes a nice 3D print.

Cons: I found several bad sections that were fatter than 1.75mm. Also this filament seams to leave a clear resin in the head that needs cleaning more than others do. I wont be buying this brand of PLA again.

Not bad if it's on sale 4/5/2015 5:32:33 AM

Pros: Seems to behave well and gives satisfactory prints. The particular sample I got was the green, which is a nearly translucent "antifreeze green" color. Came packaged in a vacuum sealed bag with desiccant pouch, which is the proper packaging method for plastics.

Cons: Not price competitive considering the dimensional tolerances are pretty terrible. Filament is oval and uneven in cross-section but this can be *mostly* compensated for with some tweaking.

Overall Review: Worth getting if it's on sale for less than $40/kg. There are other sources where you can get filament for that price which have better dimensional tolerances. Overall, though, it's perfectly suitable for the purpose and a good deal if it's cheap.

Useless 3/25/2015 9:30:31 AM

Pros: Looks good.

Cons: Useless on a cold bed. Sticks to nothing but itself.

Overall Review: Do not consider this unless you're using a heated bed. I've tried base layers ranging from 190-212c, it does not stick to blue tape. Where is my other cheap filaments work great.

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you very much for purchasing this unit.

Yes PLA will work on a “cold bed” non heated bed. One of the advantages of PLA is the melting temperature is lower. ABS is the one that requires a heated bed.
Normally we run our machines between 210-220 C(on spool label) as the ideal temp. Granted ambient room temp and humidity can play a factor but in this case, I believe your temps need to be increased.

meh 3/15/2015 9:00:30 AM

Pros: it hasnt clogged my tip yet

Cons: has a .1 mm variance in diameter... filament is not smooth, there is a bend every 3 inches or so in the filament on the spool. not so bad as to render it unusable but not the level of qc i would like to see in my filament. it simply refuses to print a smooth top layer no how many extra layers i print.

Overall Review: not impressed save your money

Best PLA I've bought 1/31/2015 6:57:05 PM

Pros: Excellent consistency. Low price. Doesn't get as stringy as most at higher temps

Cons: Translucent. Not really a con, I kinda like it, its just not in the description. You can see the infill through the print.

Overall Review: Printing on a printrbot simple metal. 80c bed and 215c extruder prints look like orange glass!

Good Plastic at a Good Price 12/14/2014 7:32:31 PM

Pros: This plastic preforms well on my Makerbot Replicator (1st gen. model). After doing some testing to figure out how to set things, I have had no problems making things out of this plastic.

Cons: None so far. I've used about half of the KG of plastic so far, and I haven't had any failures related to the plastic yet.

Overall Review: I am storing the plastic filament in closed container with desiccant when not in use, so hopefully I won't have problems with the plastic becoming brittle as it absorbs moisture from the air.
