Pros: pretty cheap for a POE switch
Cons: it will only power 15w POE devices. So if you have a fancy VOIP phone - find a POE switch that can pump out more power.
Pros: Fan less!! auto 802.3af POE. Plug it in and it works. I would recommend that you connect the power to the back of the switch and then plug it into the wall last. The case is made of metal so dont arc the power connector against it.
Cons: Not really a con but it does get a little warm when using POE. I am using all 8 POE devices though.
Overall Review: PAY ATTENTION! 802.3af Power Consumption: 55 W maximum. (Ports 1 – 8) This means that the total watts on ports 1-8 must not be greater than 55 watts. I am powering a few wireless access points that are only 5w a piece so I am using a load of approximately 40 watts. Be sure you double check the wattage on the devices you are going to power with this switch. Most cases though it should be fine.
Pros: Outstanding price for a 8 port (true 802.3af) switch + 8 10/100 switch ports. Plugged in a 802.3af device that requires handshaking, and it worked like a charm.
Cons: Make sure the entire power supply (dc side and AC cable) are connected to the switch before you plug into AC. The first unit I tested was bricked when the power supply sparked when connected to AC power without the switch as a dc load. Netgear support was AWFUL, told me to exchange with my retailer.
Pros: Lots of ports
Cons: Does not provide enough PoE to all ports. I have Shoretel Voip phones that other routers have no problems providing power to, but when I have 4 phones on this router, they start to act funny every once in a while (not powering, network issues, etc...). I am currently using this with 3 phones (which use less than 8W each
Overall Review: I purchased other brands of PoE switches from Newegg, and they work great without any issues.
Pros: Works very well, plug and play.
Cons: After 2.5 years of continious service, the PoE injector circuit seems fatigued. Switching functions still work fine, but having PoE devices plugged in for more than a few hours now will cause the switch to power-cycle all devices as it is overloaded. Again, this is after years of service, so not really that bad.
Pros: So far this has worked like a charm. Powering 4 Panasonic Poe IP cameras (2 of which are almost two hundred feet away) with zero drop outs. All four of these cameras are also outputting analog video simultaneously with excellent quality.
Cons: None at all.
Overall Review: So far this has proven to be an excellent product.
Pros: Works as advertised. I have 6 PoE cameras hooked up to it. No problems at all.
Pros: The item works just like it should. The one i bought is used in a highly active retail environment and that is why reliability is a must - and this netgear delivered.
Overall Review: None
