does it have software compatablitly with MAC to run the config software?

It's a Java-based, Windows executable. I couldn't get it to run on Linux. It would be best to make a simple Windows Virtual Machine for administrating. You cannot configure through Telnet, or browser. Its terrible to config, but once you do, it's solid. I use it for a Security Ph.D.

You can use it anywhere you need 802.11Q VLAN's at a cheap(er) price than conventional Web Smart or Layer 2 Enterprise switches. The ProSafe Plus software must be run on a Windows machine. But in theory you could just install them out of the box and they'd run fine with no VLAN config if you wanted.
