Cons: Not managed (but that’s par for this price range and the average non IT net admin)
Power cord on five port is shorter than for the eight port.
!power wall warts for both 5 and 8 port units are visually identical except for tiny writing, and have same connector! If you use both sizes, be sure to be careful and label as 12v or 5v to avoid potential mistake.
Overall Review: I’ve used these little netgear 5 and 8 port switches since they were hubs and 100 baseT was the new hotness. Never had one fail. Buying more because everything needs net these days and it’s a house full of nerds.
I recently got another one of each size. When setting up I noticed how easily someone might mix up the power supplies. The switches themselves are clearly labeled as to their needs, but the wall warts are the same size and shape, and you might need a flashlight and magnifying glass to read their output voltage.
Overall Review: I use this switch for it's intended use, to split one line of internet into 4.
I have 3 game consoles connected up and a TV for Hulu and no issues yet, been working nonstop since 2022.
If you know what you are doing it will work just fine.
Pros: I purchased this product to add Tv and computer to my connection.
I had a plastic five slot one From another manufacture that did not give me the speed I was paying for 400Mbs.
Which I had gotten for games and watching movies as there are multiple systems in my house.
I had an earlier purchase of an ten slot metal case by same manufacture and it worked perfectly to get me the right speed.
I didn't need such a large switch in that room so I had purchased this one which works perfectly also.
Moved the larger switch to the front room with Tv ,computer, ,playstation, exbox, etc
Cons: Not a thing to complain about
Overall Review: I would recommend purchasing this product.
especially if your internet is higher then 100Mbs.
