why does the main description say 24 10/100 ports? Shouldn't it be 24 10/100/100 ports?

I think that description is wrong. Mine was Gigabit speed, but only 16 ports.

Can you hook this up after Broadband modem and connect wireless router? Or in another words between broadband modem and wireless router? My modem and all the Ethernet connections are in the basement and I am trying to avoid keeping wireless router in the basement as well.

You can connect it that way, but that is not ideal. I would recommend running two Ethernet runs to the location where you want to place your wireless router for best coverage: One ethernet run for the broadband modem to wireless router connection, and a second for the wireless router to switch connection. With two ethernet runs, your Ethernet switch stays where your wired connections are (basement) and your wireless router is placed where the best coverage is.

Are the VLANs easy to set up? Any restriction on number of VLANS?
