There are two plugs on each end of the cable provided.  Please note, this item is only for 4 cams and 4 cables.  There is no DVR.  You need to have the DVR to plug the BNC connectors into.  The other connector are for power.  There should have been a power adapter with a 4 way splitter so that you can power all four cameras using on power adapter.

Can this system be run on a computer and does it come with the software to do this?

These are cams only. If you have a security BNC card us has a Qsee PCI card then these cams will connect to it. These cams do not come with software. They are extra cams that will connect to any BNC connection style DVR or PC Security card. You can also buy gender changers to change them from the BNC connection to RCA connection also. Hope this helps.

Does this come with the power adapter and splitter?

Yes, the cameras are great. They come with the power adapter and splitter, and a 60' cable for each camera. I like these so much, I'm thinking about replacing my old cameras.

why cant you turn these right side up?

I have had my system and cameras for about 2 years. I have turned the cameras lots of different ways, but most of mine hang under the eaves of my house. They can be adjusted to any position. Have  Great Day,

Can I  hook up to my flat screen ?

Yes you can  , that's depends what kind of input you have on your dvr box . Usually is an VGA port , if your flat screen doesn't have one you can use VGA to composit or DVI to VGA connector
