Exceptional Low-light PerformanceThe COOLPIX S8100 combines the image-stabilizing advantages of lens shift VR with the ability of its new backside Illumination CMOS image sensor to rapidly expose and merge a series of shots, which enables you to capture beautiful handheld portraits at night. In Night Portrait mode, the camera first shoots a rapid sequence of exposures at shutter speeds fast enough to capture the background cleanly followed by an additional exposure using the flash to capture your subject. The exposures are then merged into a single composite image, producing a beautiful image of both your subject and the background.
High Speed PerformanceThe COOLPIX S8100 ensures capture of memorable moments with its ultra-fast start-up time, high-speed AF operation, and quick shot-to-shot turnaround. It also gives you the opportunity to shoot five consecutive images at a rapid 10 fps (approx.) at maximum size (4000 x 3000). Other high-speed features include Shoot Slow Motion Movies up to 240 fps by selecting HS Movie mode (reduced image size) and Subject Tracking that automatically tracks a moving subject to ensure sharp focus.
