Yes it can scan stand-alone to a network shared folder, email, usb, or directly to your computer (if you have the scanning software installed on your computer) it is able to scan from the feeder on top (for multi paged documents) or the full size glass underneath

Is there any problems getting this unit to work with Windows 10?

I have two computers hook to my 8620, wireless and didn't have a problem with win 7 or when I upgraded to win 10.

Yes, absolutely.  It will transmit in color or black / white.  The option is available each time a fax is sent.  I have been using this unit for over a month and ALL four functions (copy, print, fax, scan) work perfectly.

Can I print card stock paper or will the thicker sizes jam the system ?

It jams somewhat easily with card stock paper. I did about 200 cards on it and it took a long time and it jammed up frequently. It does print beautiful pictures though, and at the cost, I feel the jam ups are only a little bit of a headache since I only do card stock a few times a year. If you plan to have this as a printer that only prints on card stock, I wouldn't recommend it. Hp has photo paper that works well and doesn't jam but it's a bit costly. Hope that helps!

I do not want to go wireless. Can this printer be set up with a wire? All I have is an At&t U-verse modem. Thanks...

Yep there is an Ethernet port in the back. Set this one up at a branch office via hard wire.

What is the max. paper size?

You can print up to legal size paper. I haven't tried to do so, but the paper tray receives legal paper as does the output tray.

Can the ink cartridges be refilled?

Yes.  It is a very easy process.  You will receive periodic notifications indicating when the various ink cartridges are running low.  When you re-order them, you generally receive them in 3-5 business days, although you can pay more to receive them sooner.  Hope this helps.

How do you set this printer up to print the old fashion way by USB port, not wireless?

Just plug it into your computer by hardwire. That is how I pluged mine into the computer then put the software in.

I am looking for a printer that scans fast.  I will be doing more scanning than printing, but need an all in one.  How fast is this for scanning?

The flatbed glass scanner is fast, but it is manual operate, you have to flip the cover open then lay down the document on the glass, close the cover then scan.
The Auto Feeder scan is kind of slow, if you looking for a heavy duty scanner, you may have to buy a desktop scanner for your job.
