Great home theater doesn't have to break the bank. Onkyo's TX-SR307 proves the point. This 5.1 channel receiver comes with Dolby Digital and DTS decoding for audio that sounds more like what the producers had in mind. The Audyssey DynamicEQ ensures that you get clear dialogue by dynamically adjusting the EQ settings as the volume is changed.
The receiver also makes friends with your iPod or other MP3 player, via a frontpanel input. Thanks to Music Optimizer technology, all your audio files will shine. This versatile system provides four new gaming modes that allow you to customize the audio to your chosen game type.
Onkyo's CinemaFILTER technology adjusts the tonal balance of the soundtrack to account for room size. This way, the soundtrack will sound like it should and not like it’s been forced into a room.

Pros: Relatively inexpensive. Automatic speaker setup with Audyssey EQ. 3 HDMI inputs. 2 different pseudo-surround modes. Officially supports 6 ohm speakers.
Cons: HDMI is Pass Thru only, receiver does NOT process HDMI audio signals, merely sends them through the HDMI output to a TV or other device. Doesn't support the latest HD audio formats. HDMI output may not work with some PCs. No S-Video inputs.
Overall Review: I recently bought this receiver to replace an aging 20 year old Sony. This was for a small bedroom, so I didn't need a lot of power. I also wanted to reduce clutter. Before this I used an HDMI switcher to switch between my PC and PS3, so I needed a new receiver with HDMI inputs. I also wanted to step up to digital sound for the PS3. Given that my needs are so modest, this receiver is a good fit. However, if you're looking for a model that supports HDMI audio or the latest HD audio formats for Blu-Ray, you won't get it here. As far as sound quality goes, it's better than my old model, but that's not saying much. Sound quality is good but at the budget/entry-level you can't really expect audiophile quality. The manual says that the HDMI inputs/output do not support PCs, but it works fine with my Radeon 4850 videocard and Samsung 906BW LCD monitor. Depending on your setup you may need DVI-HDMI adapter cables.
