Purchased this because newegg site said windows compatible, though it didn't specify which version. I find out once I receive it, it is not windows 10 compatible. I checked it at work on 7, worked just fine. Is there any way I can still use this with my home windows 10 machine?

I'm using this with my win10 machine right now, it's not experiencing any issues. If you are, you may want to check on warranty or return info for replacement.

Question 2

Hello. Just received this enclosure today and installed two Seagate drives. One 3TB and one 4TB. These are both packed full with media. PC recognized both drives however it want me to format. How can I get this to see my media on my drives? I switched them around in different bays within the enclosure, same issue. I do also have a 3.5 drive docking station and when I drop the drives in it, PC recognizes them and I can access all my media just fine. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for everyone response on this. I am thinking Bobby M has got it figured out because both of the drives I have were removed from enclosures. They are both Seagate and were external desktop drives before I pulled from their cases. Strange thing is they work in an HDD docking station I have just fine. My docking station does have a switch on the back and I need to switch it back and forth in order for it to read drives over one TB and under 1TB, otherwise I will get the same formatting question. Anyway, I did insert an old blank 80gb I had laying around and the case recognized it immediately. So, I'm guessing the problem is because I removed these from their enclosures. Kinda sucks to have to move everything from one drive to another and then back again, x2, but I guess this is what Im going to have to do. I hope that once this is done, I dont have a problem taking them out and docking them and then putting them back again...
Also, wondering if anyone else has a power switch on the back of the unit vs. a button in the front as pictured?

This enclosure does not have either ON/OFF switch or cooling fan.  Will the internal power adapter automatically turn off as soon as the pc turns off?  Your reply is appreciated.

No, it has both.  I would like to see a little more power in the fan... move more air, but I have not checked drive temps so it is arbitrary.

The drive install in the trays is a little problematic, but not really an issue.  You can always use a small Phillips to make their drive attachment work... remove it, put the drive in and replace it.

If I had it to do over, for another $20 - $30, I would get the Raid unit.

I just powered down the laptop running the unit and the enclosure auto powers down as well.  Actually, I never noticed as I never turn the laptop off.

I would buy another based on my Raid comment.  I have had zero problems and is s darn good buy in my opinion.

Does this enclosure support RAID?

No, this enclosure does not support RAID. There are other models in this line that do have built-in RAID controllers. The only way this could support RAID is if you hooked it up to an eSATA card that had RAID support built-in to the card and supported RAID over port multiplier. Many e-SATA cards that have RAID support only do so on the internal SATA ports and not over an eSATA port using port multiplier which this enclosure must use since it only has one eSATA connection on the back.

What is the size of the fan 80mm/120mm/etc, and how many pins does the fan use?

I believe it's a 4" fan.  Mine uses 2 pins.  I will say this has been on of the best purchases I've made in years.  I got 5 spare trays from Orico for hot swaps, no problems at all from this unit.

I have drives that have each been in separate external enclosures, would this bay keep them as separate drives or would they show up as one big drive on my computer?

The drives appear separately, after the drives in the main computer.

It's 4TB per bay, not total. In fact is should work it the new 5TB and 6TB drives out there now. I only have five 4TB drives in mine for a total 20TB.
