Can I connect the Station to a USB 2.0 port on my system? I have an older 2009 Macbook pro and iMac.

Yes, you can connect an Orico 6629US3-C to a USB 2.x port.  It won't be as fast, but it works quite nicely.

I had a problem with one where it kept disconnecting, whether due to a power hiccup or otherwise I don't know, but I love the ones that work properly.

IPhone 6 compatible for 2 at a time??

No not at all. This device is only used to interface with SATA raw drives and is not a phone charger.

Question 3

I have a 3TB source with 100 GB of files/folders that I want to transfer to a 1 TB target disk using the local duplication feature.  Can this be done?  Will the time required for transfer be related to 100 GB or 1 TB?

I just got mine and read the manual. It says "please ensure the volume of Target hard drive in Slot HDD2 is larger than Source Hard drive in Slot HDD1 when duplicating Drives. Drives with same Model Number may have tiny differences in Volume and that may cause the duplicating Failed."

For your case you will have to prepare Tha target drive and use a file-to-file copy since you can access both drives when connected via USB.

Duplicating an empty 1TB drive takes the same time as a full 1TB drive.

Does this read SMART data? Like, can you use GSMARTControl with this? I had one very similar, same brand etc. but it would only read basic data like drive contents but not like serial, firmware, size, etc. Thanks.

Yes it does. I just plugged in a Seagate 500GB ST3500630AS and I was able to read the S.M.A.R.T. data within the Hard Disk Sentinel program I have installed.

Will this drive work with Win10pro that was upgraded from Win7pro.  I heard it will not work with the Win10 upgrade and that an original Win10 is needed.  ????

I am using it with Windows 7 Pro and could not answer the question for windows 10 since i wouldn't be upgrading to 10. I would say off hand that it should work anyway if it worked on the computer before the upgrade. But I am not going to upgrade just to try it.

I bought this drive from a local store and the instruction manual is terrible. I have a question specifically about the cloning feature. If I put a  drive I want to clone in the source slot and a drive I want to copy to in the target slot, and then select clone from the back switch and hit start, the lights should cycle through the 25%-100% until the drive is finished cloning, correct? While cloning the two indicator LED's should be blinking? What if one of them is blinking (source drive) but the other is not? What happens if you try to clone to a drive that hasn't been formatted?

Been a while since I used it for duplication, but I do remember it was slow but worked well with a 2TB Linux formatted drive from a small NAS box.  Pretty sure the destination drive can be any formatting or not initialized at all, and the copy will go right over it (totally wiping out any data that was on it - be really careful not to reverse the two disks!).

For some reason when doing backups with Time Machine the disk will randomly eject! I've tried cooling the drive and reformatting the disk but the messages still appear, although less often.

I'm using a 2TB Segate drive from Newegg (Seagate Barracuda XT ST32000641AS 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5") in this Orico external enclosure with OS X 10.10.2. It is a MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008) with USB 2.0.

Is this a sign of a bad cradle? Is it because of USB 2.0? Thanks!

I had a similar problem under Windows.  In my case, the drive was going to sleep.  I tried Device Manager to change USB sleep settings, but it still slept.  I finally moved the drive to a new 3.0 enclosure.

i had orico 6629, i switch the clne button then i pres the start button to start. but why when i pust the start button once the source indicator is only beeping blue light?

There are probably 1 of 2 issues...
1. The target drive is smaller than the source drive .. Even if they are both 320gb for example .. To the dock the source may be 298.6gb and the target disk may be 298.5gb which would cause it not to copy.
2. The sector size may be different on the 2 drives. This is especially common when trying to copy a mechanical disk to SSD drives.

I have been able to run S.M.A.R.T. test from a Hirens disk on a hard drive plugged into this device.
