This has two modes.  1. allows for you to access 4 drives on your system via USB 3.  The second allows you to clone a drive.. I've found useful when upgrading my notebooks primary drive to a bigger or SSD drive.  You can make up to 3 copies at once.

Question 3

I recently got this and it won't identify more than one hdd at a time - I only want it to use as a multi hdd enclosure - no cloning but no matter what I try it only shows one hdd. Instructions were no help - was hoping you might be able to help?

I assume you made sure the switch was not set to clone? Otherwise I didn't have to do anything, though I think I read that some people could only get one drive to work at a time due to low power from the adapter?

Question 4

Will this support 4 8TB drives? I'm looking for a docking station to run 4 stand alone drives. Not interested in cloning or anything like that.

Yes it will support the drives. However the power supply does not provide enough power to spin up 4 drives simultaneously. I was able to get 4 drives to work by adding the drives hot, one at a time. Attempting to power up, or recover from sleep with 4 drives installed resulted in the unit shutting down momentarily and then trying to power back on again. This was a deal breaker for me because of my intended use, so I returned the unit.

Bought 3 of these and they were working great on Windows 10 PC.  New PC (Windows 11) they don't.  Is there a way to get them to work with Windows 11?

The ORICO 64TB USB 3.0 to SATA I/II/III 4 Bay External Hard Drive Docking Station is compatible with Windows XP/VISTA/Windows 7/8/8.1/10/Linux/Mac 9.1/10.2 or higher, which should include Windows 11.

How does this report on a Windows PC?  Up to four USB devices (drives) or one USB device with up to 4 drives?  I want to use with an EspressoBin SoC PC, whose firmware can only support three USB hosts + the SoC...Any external hub counts as a separate device (one of the three available).   I have a Sabrent 4-bay (no longer available) that works with the EBin, since it reports as one host with up to four drives - Does this work the same?

Can this help recover data from a RAID 5 that was in a failed system??

It provides 4 docking bays as advertised. Mine died after about 6 months; I have read that 4 active drives pull too much juice for the in-cord power supply. As far as recovering data, it will clone a functioning drive, or simply act as 4 additional drive bays.

3.5 inch HDD's usually require 1.5 amp, isn't a 4 amp power supply a bit small for a 4 bay unit??? Shouldn't it at least be 6 amp to be safe?
