Does this mean it only supports up to 4-2TB drives? Or can it go up to 4-8TB drives?

ihave 8 tbs in all drives. Works fine

The specs seem to indicate this doesn't do RAID, which for the price is probably to be expected. So how does it present to drives to the computer, as individual drives or does it SPAN them on it's own?

The bay presents each drive as a separate drive letter to your OS. Although I have not tried it, it should be possible in Windows to create a "storage space" that spans multiple drives. So far my unit has performed without any issues.
