Does the Type A cable throttle it to 5Gbps?

No, the Type A to Type C cable included with the ORICO M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure does not throttle the speed to 5Gbps. The enclosure supports up to 10Gbps transmission rate with its USB3.1 GEN2 Type-C output interface.

The product description says it supports SSDs up to 2 TB in size. Is that true (maybe 4 TB SSDs were not available to be tested when the description was first written)? Does this enclosure support SSDs that are 4 TB?

Not an answer, but I'm also interested in this question. And I'm also curious if anyone's had luck with 8TB NVMe SSD's in this adapter too? I suspect I'll have a few 8TB drives in a year or two.

Is this enclosure able to read a GPT (GUID Partition Table) formatted hard drive?

This enclosure is meant for NVME m.2 SSDs, not hard drives. Yes, this enclosure will support GPT. That's how I have mine set up.

1. ORICO NVMe M.2 enclosure supports PCI-E based M key M.2 NVME SSD up to 2TB; SATA-based B Key & (B+M) Key M.2 SSD or PCIe AHCI SSD or MacBook original SSD are not supported!

5. For the brand new SSD drive, it may not find the drive, because the brand new SSD drive should be formatted before first time using. And also need to make the SSD drive partition.
