The Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars are a further improvement on the successful earlier version Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD. It is a much sought-after pair of binoculars with nearly zero distortion. Its durable and rugged construction and advanced features enhance its overall quality and make it suitable for even unfavorable weather conditions. Its light weight and compactness make it a perfect companion for your voyage or an extensive birding adventure. Our Take on the Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus:
Compared to the earlier model, Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus features a specially designed SCHOTT HT glass, which increases color fidelity significantly as it allows better light, especially in the blue-violet range. It is thus a perfect apparatus that provides excellent value even in low lighting. A High Durable Coating (HDC) protects the lens surface, giving it a longer life. There is also an additional hydrophobic AquaDura coating that prevents water or even viscous liquids from sticking to it. It provides far more clarity for the view compared to ordinary lenses. The roof prisms have almost zero chromatic aberration and enhanced contrast levels, thanks to its High Lux System (HLS) coatings and P40 phase correction feature.
The top-notch optics of Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus are complemented with durable materials and a bunch of user-friendly design features. A light-weight and long-lasting magnesium alloy is the construction material for the chassis. It makes it easy to handle it for long hours without discomfort. Another ergonomic feature is the thumb-rests at the bottom coupled with a rubber grip that avoids the binoculars slipping down from the hand. The center-hinge axle is of titanium. The viewing tubes contain nitrogen that eliminates any chances of fogginess.
