The Amprobe HD160C IP67 digital multimeter with included temperature probe is a true RMS (root mean square) sensing, auto- or manual-ranging meter for measuring current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, and frequency in electrical testing applications with high voltage and harsh environmental conditions. The meter measures alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) to 2 amp, AC voltage to 1, 000 volts (V), DC voltage to 1, 500V, resistance to 40 megaohms, capacitance to 400 microfarads, and frequency to 10 megahertz (MHz). The meter comes with a K-type thermocouple probe and adaptor plug for measuring temperature.

The meter's molded plastic case is made from flame-retardant thermoplastic to help protect against fire, chemicals, grease, falls, impacts, and abrasions. The case is sealed to prevent water and dirt from entering and it has an ingress protection rating of IP67, meaning it provides complete protection against dust and is waterproof when submerged up to 1 meter. The meter comes with a set of detachable high-voltage test leads and two threaded alligator clips for connecting to high-voltage conductors. A liquid crystal display (LCD) shows readings both in digits and on a 41-segment bar graph.

The display is backlit for visibility in low light. The relative zero mode stores a reading in memory to use as a zero point for subsequent readings, allowing for quick comparison of readings.
