The 3M 2097 P100 Particulate + Odor Filters help filter fine particles and help reduce the odor of nuisance organic vapors while you sand, scrape, and demo. They are replacement filters for the 3M 6297 Lead Paint Removal Respirator and attach to 3M 6000, 6500, and 7500 series facepieces with a simple twist. Swap them out when they get dirty, damaged, or difficult to breathe through.

The carbon layer helps reduce the odor of nuisance organic vapors such as certain solvents, degreasers, and resins, which makes long jobs more comfortable. This is odor relief only. These filters do not provide respiratory protection against organic vapors, paint fumes, or any other gas. Nuisance levels are those below the OSHA permissible exposure limit or applicable government exposure limit, whichever is lower. If you are working with solvents or chemical vapors, you need a cartridge rated for those contaminants, not a particulate filter.

How long a filter lasts depends on your work environment, how much dust and contaminant is in the air, and how long you wear it. 3M recommends replacing particulate filters when they become dirty, damaged, or when breathing becomes noticeably harder. Where oil aerosols are present, discard P-series filters after 40 hours of use or 30 days, whichever comes first.
