Cold Laser, also referred to as Low-Level Laser or Class IV Laser Therapy refers to a form of laser therapy that stimulates cell regeneration and increases blood circulation. It employs deep-penetrating light to promote a chain of chemical reactions known as photobiostimulation. This process also helps relieve pain through the release of endorphins and stimulates injured cells to heal at an accelerated pace.
It can reduce pain by reducing inflammation through "vasodilation" (the opening of blood vessels) and by activating the lymphatic drainage system, thus draining fluid from swollen areas. Less swelling, less fluid means less pain. These features allow cold laser to provide a non-invasive, pain-free treatment that is adjunctive or complimentary therapy for a variety of conditions.
