I have heat pump with 95% efficient gas furnace (not my design). I do not want the heat pump to run EVER. How do I set up duel fuel so that the heat pump does not run? Note: Lennox system with O/B terminal.

Put the furnace in emergency mode.  That will run gas instead on heat pump.

Does control via pc or phone require going through a website? I don't want to be dependent on the company for it to work; I want to go directly from phone to thermostat.
