Question 1

I am confused by the illustration picture. Is this a usb hub as well as a charger? if so, is it 3.0?

4 of the ports on the front are only for charging (2 of them supercharging), the other port on the front, labeled OTG (On the Go) gives pass-through access to a related USB port on the back, which I think you are expected to plug a USB flash drive or external hard drive into.  I have not used that OTG feature, but the chargers work great.   So it's probably not right to call it a hub.

Question 2

I know I probably sound dumb, but what is the difference between the the 1A and the 2.4A?  How would I know which one to use for a certain device?

use the 2.4 for anything you want to charge as it is the fastest.  The 1A is less powerful and should be used for phones, ipods, etc that aren't as powerful.  You can charge large items like ipads with the 1A side but it will take longer to charge

Does this stop charging each device when it is fully charged?

I went to the website to research your answer because you pose a good question...

They say it's 'smart' enough to determine the rate of charge your device can handle, so I would speculate that a full charge could be sensed without overcharging.

I have two now, one home, one at work, love 'em.

So this is merely a 5-port USB unit with additional OTG port?     Or is it also a Battery Unit?   If the latter, what is its capacity?
