We plant one -- only one -- seed in each bio sponge, even for varieties that are difficult to germinate, and they almost always sprout. Over all our years, we have never achieved results like this from any other seed-starting medium, and we have tried them all. The bio sponge provides the ideal balance of aeration and moisture to assist seeds of all types to grow and cuttings to root! Bottom watering. You water the base of this tray, not the bio sponges directly. Add enough lukewarm water into the base so that the polystyrene tray floats. The bio sponges will draw up just the water they require. As your plants develop, their roots will grow down and out, instead of circling or spreading out near the surface as is often seen with top-watered seedlings. It is impossible to over-water the Bio Dome! Root strength. This connects to bottom watering -- these seedlings develop numerous roots and grow them directly down and out. When it is time to transplant, you can see roots emerging all over the sides and bottom of the bio sponge! Ease of transplant. No more needing to transplant the plug into a pot and then moving the plant from the pot into the soil! When you start your seeds in the Bio Dome, they can be transplanted directly into their final location.
