David Gilmour was dissatisfied with the sound of the recording, and sent the already cleanly recorded guitar signal back over his amp. Meanwhile, "reamping" is a widespread method to try out different guitar sounds without re-recording the track every time. For this procedure, the low-impedance signal from a sound card or tape machine must be converted again into a high-impedance signal, which can be processed by a guitar amplifier, effects processor or preamp.
