The design comes with nine FLD, and one SLD elements that reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations and limit distortion. The rounded 11-blade diaphragm renders astounding bokeh quality images.
The Super Multi-Layer Coating suppresses flare and ghosting and renders higher contrast and color fidelity in strong lighting conditions and harsh climates. The integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) outputs quick and quiet autofocus. The HSM even allows full-time manual focus override. Further, the lens is compatible with Sigma USB Dock that can be used for fine-tuning lens characteristics and firmware updates. Further, the lens comes with a fixed and removable rotating tripod collar that also has an Arca-type compatible foot, making working with a tripod or monopod extremely convenient.
The lens is appropriate for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras; however, it is compatible with APS-C models also. The lens provides a 105-300 mm equivalent focal length in APS-C models. Additionally, brass bayonet mount provides rigidity and mounting precision. Further, a rubber sealing incorporated in the mount design makes the lens dust and splash-resistant.
