The processor adds speed to the camera functions and allows a 6 fps continuous shooting rate. It can also record a series of images continuously at a frame rate of 3 fps without lowering and raising the reflex mirror of the unit. The Nikon D610 DSLR is designed with a Multi-cam 4800 AF sensor that furnishes fast autofocus speeds using a 39-point array. According to the situation, 9, 21, and 39 point arrays can be also be used. Among them, seven centrally-located AF points are compatible with f/8 or faster lenses. Four AF modes are used in phase-detection, namely Single-point AF mode, Dynamic AF mode, 3D tracking mode, and Auto-Area AF mode.
