Sanus Systems ELM501 All-in-One IR Repeater #ELM501-B1

The Sanus Systems ELM501-B1 is an all-in-one IR repeater kit for people who want to control up to four AV components stored behind closed cabinet doors using their remote controls.

Recommended For

• Home-theater owners who want to keep IR-controlled equipment inside a closed cabinet while operating it with their existing remotes.
• People building a tidy TV setup who can place one small IR receiver in view and route emitter leads to hidden components.
• AV setups with up to four compatible IR-controlled components grouped behind a cabinet door, where each component can receive an emitter signal.
• Installers or DIY users who want tabletop or hole-mounted receiver placement and are comfortable positioning IR emitters near component sensors.

Real-World Use Scenarios

• When a cable box or other IR-controlled AV device sits behind a closed cabinet door, place the receiver where the remote can reach it and the emitter over the device’s IR sensor; you can change channels or control playback without opening the cabinet.
• In a media cabinet holding several IR-controlled components, attach the supplied emitters near each device’s IR sensor; the kit is intended to pass remote commands to as many as four components from one accessible receiver.
• If an AV receiver or disc player is tucked behind the TV or inside nearby furniture, keep the repeater hub out of sight and position its small IR receiver near the TV; this preserves remote control while keeping equipment and wiring less visible.
• For a tidy installation, mount the IR receiver on a tabletop or through a suitable hole in the furniture; the receiver can remain accessible to the remote while the hub and AV equipment stay concealed.
• In a bright room or near a plasma TV, where stray light may interfere with IR reception, the repeater’s filtering is designed to reduce unwanted signals; actual results can depend on receiver and emitter placement.
