To detect the cable under test
Use the red clip to clamp the cable being tested. The black clip is for securing a ground stake (made of a metal rod) and inserting it into the ground

When the receiver probe nears the cables path, it emits a beep. Follow the sound to quickly and accurately locate and trace buried wires
How to identify broken or shorted cables
When the receiver probes audible signal ceases, it indicates an open (break) or short at that exact point along the cable.
Use this method to locate breaks and trace the cables path without damaging its outer insulation
How to properly install the battery
Route the battery cables and position them at the front of the battery. PLEASE DO NOT put the battery line on top.
