Yes, it does come with a PoE Injector & Combo AC/DC Converter (model: GP-A240-050G) rated for 100-240VAC input to 24VDC/0.3A output with an IEC C5 / NEMA 5-15P power cord.

Question 2

is this an autonomous AP or Controller managed?

Accepted Answer

It is managed by a controller. However, unlike most enterprise, controller-managed access points, this controller is software only, it's free, and once you have configured your access points, it does not need to continue running on whatever PC or sever you have installed it. You only need the controller for the initial configuration of the APs, to make any configuration changes, or to view statistics about connections, speed, etc.

Hello all,
Thinking of getting this AP. i have a 2 floor concrete home, will i wave wifi issues if i install this in the center of home high on the wall?

You'll need to be more specific if you want a legitimate answer...i.e. how many square feet is each level, how thick is the concrete that the wifi needs to get through, and whether you need AC speed or just N. N has much better range, but is fast enough for a lot of use cases.

I have the LR AP set up in the basement ceiling of my split-level 1700 square foot home and it covers the house and reaches to, and through, my detached garage's steel door, out to an old laptop that I have in the back of the garage (for a total of approx. 50' away). Its been awhile since I tested it so I don't recall what my upload and download speed was anymore, but I think it was respectable, and I can stream audio and video...so it does what I expected it to do.

I did a quick Google search for "ubiquiti ap lr distance" and the top result was some guys that speculate on the LR's maximum range in the Ubiquiti Community forum (sorry, newegg doesn't allow me to share the link).

Question 4

What is "long range"? If i wanted to reach an outbuilding 120 ft away would I need 2 units to bridge? and is this a directional unit?

This is an access point, not a bridge.  It works by running ethernet cable to it, then it provides a wifi signal.  You should take a look at other products that are specifically wireless bridges.

In case you're curious, I have one in my uninsulated garage, and it covers my backyard nicely.  I'd say it probably has a 50 ft. range through the walls.  The signal is not directional.

I will need to run about 60 feet of cable to mount the access point in my shop. Will that work with this Long Range Access Point?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if the cable will work properly at 60 feet? If so, cat5e, and cat6 will have no issues at that length.

The type of WAP you use has no bearing on the how the length of the cat cable will affect performance.

I know it says indoor/outdoor but is it weather proof?

I would not trust it outdoors. Unifi makes a great outdoor AP model though.

Do I need any other equipment with this or is this all I need for a router in order to connect a desktop PC from another room (not where this will be connected)?

I'm not entirely sure of what you have based on that question. But this is just a Wireless Access Point, and does not do any routing on it's own. This device will need to be connected directly to a router via a network cable.

What you need:
Router, or ISP Modem with routing capabilities.
A network cable to connect the router to this device, long enough to reach your desired location.
A computer connected to the router for configuration purposes, not needed afterwards.
And lastly, your computer in the other room that you wish to connect to this will need to have wireless capabilities. Most desktops to not come inherently with wireless network cards. If your's does not, you will need a wireless network card or a USB wireless adapter.

What is the range of this access point?

I have 1 AP on the ceiling of my second floor and I get 5ghz signal in all corners of the basement, and 2.4ghz from all corners of my 1 acre yard.  I've never thought that the range was in any way insufficient.

Question 9

What's the difference between the UBI-UAP-AC-LR-US and UAP-AC-LR-US?  
I see a difference on the price and maybe the (US) that means the US version, but I'm not sure what else is different.

Otherwise they're the same product.  Different sellers, different prices.

I have 25,000 sq ft to cover can I setup multiple units with the same SSID password to have seamless coverage when going from one side of the building to another?
