FIBER: converts Gigabit Ethernet to multimode ST fiber and back. The ST fiber module is built into the unit and factory-aligned - nothing to fit, match or configure.
WORKS ON OM1 THROUGH OM5: links over 62.5 /125 OM1 and over 50/125 OM2, OM3, OM4 and OM5 - OM4 and OM5 are backward compatible at 850nm, so newer fiber works too and you do not need to match a specific grade.
Reach does depend on grade: the full 550 m applies to OM2 and better, while OM1 ( 62.5 /125) carries Gigabit a shorter distance.
AUTO-SENSING 10/100/1000 COPPER: the RJ-45 port negotiates speed and duplex automatically, so it links to whatever switch, router, NAS, PC or IP camera you connect. Jumbo frame support up to 9000 bytes for full throughput on file and backup traffic.
PLUG AND PLAY,
WITH ROOM TO ADJUST: it works out of the box - connect fiber and RJ-45 and the link comes up, no software, no drivers, nothing to configure. In the rare case you want more control, four DIP switches let you turn Link Loss Forwarding on or off, enable broadcast storm control, or drop the fiber port to 100Base-FX for older Fast Ethernet gear.
BUY TWO FOR A FIBER RUN: use ONE if the far end already has a multimode ST fiber port on a switch. Use TWO, one at each end, to join two copper devices over a fiber run. Ships with a 1m Cat5e patch cord so the copper side is ready out of the box.
MULTIMODE ONLY - CHECK YOUR FIBER: the fiber side is 850nm multimode with a built-in ST connector. It will NOT link over single-mode fiber or with a different connector type - if your run is single-mode, pick the matching model instead.
BUILT FOR THE JOB: fanless with no moving parts, desktop or wall mount using the included ears, standard AC power. Works with any IEEE 802.3 switch, router or NIC.
