SFF-8482 SAS Cable 29Pin Male to Female Extension Cable for SAS Hard Disk Drive SSD 12Gbps. The SFF-8482 is a connector design for interfacing a connection for SAS drives, both SAS Hard drives and SAS SSD drives. The SFF-8482 is a 29-pin connector with a plastic body, and configured with 15 pins that support the power requirements of the drive, and (2) groups of 7 pins that carry the SAS data signals. The SFF-8482 supports 2 SAS ports (lanes) to/from the drive; SAS 29 pin straight SFF-8482; Male to Female cable.

One very common use of the SFF-8482 connector is in SAS backplanes. The male portion of the connector can be either SAS or SATA power and 7-pin data connectors. While one can plug a SATA drive in the SAS SFF-8482 connector, one cannot plug a SAS drive into the SATA variant due to a piece of plastic bisecting the 7-pin data connector and SATA power connector.
