The new R-Series R-S 69.2 speakers provide larger voice coils, innovative cone technologies, and enhanced performance compared to the earlier R-S69 models. In general, the R-Series speaker is more compact, making it perfect for confined installations and for use with matching speaker grills that are also shallower. The R-S 69.2 woofers incorporate a bigger 35 millimeter (mm) voice coil for improved motor control over the bass output versus the prior R-S69. The R-Series speakers are engineered from scratch using a proprietary cone technology, CFRP: Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer. This robust yet lightweight material is shaped so its fibers align with the curve and contour of the cone, thus minimizing resonant peaks. Furthermore, CFRP is employed as a tweeter diaphragm, allowing the system to perform up to the 45kHz range, rendering the speakers suitable for High-Resolution Audio playback
