Using this cable, internal SAS hard drives can be used as external hard drives.; 5) Note: While SATA hard drives can be inserted into the SAS SFF-8482 connector (even when inserting a SATA hard drive into the SFF-8482 backplane, a SAS HBA card connection is required for operation), SAS hard drives cannot be inserted into the SATA interface.
