The TV animated series "Hell Music" is adapted from the manga work of the same name created by He Lai Yuji. The story is set in the Edo period. In order to meet his wife again, the ultimate ninja "Thru Mei Wan" and the executioner go to a small island called Pure Land to search for the "immortal elixir" in exchange for acquittal. They also kill each other with mysterious monsters and other medicine seekers on the island.
